OPEN WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS TEAM

Maccabi USA Gymnastics Chair Ben Fox along with Head Coach Paige Nelson are pleased to announce the Open Women’s Gymnastics Team for the 14th Pan American Maccabi Games which took place July 5-15, 2019 in Mexico City, Mexico. Maccabi USA brought a team of 400+ athletes who will join the other 2,500 Jewish athletes from 19 countries, participating in 24 different sports.
Head Coach Nelson is a Gymnastics Coach at Payke Gymnastics Academy in California. She competed as a member of the UC Davis Club Gymnastics Team during her four years of college, graduating in 2018. She also served as the Club President. The athletes were Zoe Arthur of El Segundo, CA; Kaitlin Blam of Irvine, CA; Jessica Eig of Clarksburg, MD; Katharine Klugman of Nyack, NY; Amalya Knapp of Teaneck, NJ; and Eden Kolber of Los Angeles, CA.
The Games were hosted by the Confederacion Latinoamericana Maccabi (CLAM). They were conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union and are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held. The Pan American Maccabi Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora.
Maccabi USA builds Jewish pride through sports, generating the emotional intensity, high ideals, and powerful camaraderie of competition. They connect athletes, volunteers, and supporters with the global Jewish community. Their athletic, educational, and cultural experiences build Jewish identity, perpetuate Jewish continuity worldwide, and strengthen support for the State of Israel.
